Azerbaijani expert addresses public over coronavirus

"Since Iran and Azerbaijan share a common border, many people travel to our country and return to Iran. Therefore, I would recommend not visiting Iran except for an important reason. Even if it is necessary to go there, our citizens should pay serious attention to security measures," Azerbaijan's chief specialist in infectious diseases Jalal Isayev told Report.

He advised citizens to wash their hands regularly, eat healthily, avoid contact with infected people when they are in the centers of coronavirus spread, and use protective masks.

The specialist noted that Azerbaijan had not recorded any cases of suspected coronavirus.

"The facts recorded in Iran prompt more vigilance from the relevant structures in our country. I do not think that a virus can transmit Azerbaijan from Iran, but it is still necessary to be careful."

Isayev also commented on the reports on social networks. He said he had no information about the state of Jalilabad's resident, who is reported to be in a severe condition.

The specialist urged everyone to use protective masks.

"People with respiratory syndrome must wear masks because of a higher risk of infection. Respiratory diseases are seasonal. With the arrival of spring, coronavirus will decline, since it cannot withstand high temperatures. The coronavirus dies in 10-15 minutes at 37C, while at room temperature, it takes 2 to 3 days."

He added that older people should be more careful.
