Azerbaijan starts testing for monkeypox

As of today, no case of monkeypox infection has been registered in Azerbaijan, the Azerbaijani Health Ministry told Report.

The ministry said that the epidemiological situation is carefully monitored, and when suspicious cases are detected, there are all possibilities for laboratory diagnosis by the PCR method.

“Two (monkeypox) tests have been used so far. Test samples were taken from the applicants and sent to the Center for Control of Especially Dangerous Infections. The test results of both persons are negative,” the ministry added.
