MoneyGram Haas F1 Team race engineer Mark Slade believes that Formula 1 drivers will have an exciting race weekend at the Azerbaijan Grand Prix, Report informs.
Commenting on the upcoming Formula 1 Azerbaijan Grand Prix, Slade said that the weekend on the Baku track is a difficult but interesting challenge, which is further complicated by the strong wind from the sea.
"The configuration is quite unusual - a narrow street section turns into a long high-speed section from the 16th to the first turn. It is a great pity that Kevin Magnussen will not be able to get behind the wheel this weekend, but we will work fully with Oliver [Berman]. Last year he won both Formula 2 races in Baku, demonstrating speed and talent. We need to use this experience and knowledge to get the most out of ourselves and the car. We are expecting an exciting race weekend," he noted.
German team pilot Nico Hulkenberg, in turn, emphasized that "Baku is the quintessence of a street circuit." "Several long straights and a narrow section in the old city - we are expecting a very difficult and tense lap on an interesting track. We came for the first time in the fall, usually the stage was held in the spring, we will see if this changes anything," he noted.
The Formula 1 Qatar Airways Azerbaijan Grand Prix 2024 will be held on September 13-15 in Baku.
