UN Secretary-General highly appreciates Azerbaijan’s activity within NAM chairmanship

“I highly appreciate Azerbaijan's activities within the framework of the chairmanship of the Non-Aligned Movement (NAM),” said UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres in his message addressed to the Ministerial Meeting of the NAM Coordinating Bureau, Report informs.

The message was voiced by Tatiana Valovaya, the Director-General of the United Nations Office at Geneva (UN Geneva), who participated in the meeting.

In his address, Guterres noted that during the chairmanship of the Non-Aligned Movement, Azerbaijan contributed to the discussion and solution of the challenges facing the world.

“I thank President Ilham Aliyev for successfully chairing the Non-Aligned Movement, I highly appreciate the role and activity of the country in fulfilling the principles and norms of the organization,” Guterres said.

He also noted Azerbaijan's contribution to the fight against the coronavirus pandemic within the framework of the Non-Aligned Movement.

Guterres added that the world is suffering from conflicts, climate issues, unstable economy, and other problems that pose a threat to humanity: “The activity of the Non-Aligned Movement contributes to the fight against cataclysms.”
