UN circulates Azerbaijani President's address as official document

The United Nations (UN) Secretariat has published President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev's address to the participants of the second international conference on "The Right to Return: Advancing Justice for Azerbaijanis Expelled from Armenia," held in Baku on December 5-6, 2024, and the conference's final document as official documents of the UN Security Council and General Assembly, Report informs, citing the Western Azerbaijan Community.

It was noted that the circulation of President Ilham Aliyev's address to conference participants as an official UN document is particularly significant in terms of raising the international profile of the Western Azerbaijan issue emphasizing that President Aliyev has always kept the matter of Western Azerbaijanis' return to their native lands in focus.

Similarly, the circulation of the conference's final document as an official UN document has been an effective step in terms of recognizing the Western Azerbaijan Community as a reputable organization internationally and conveying the conference results to the international community. It makes a significant contribution to establishing this annual international conference as one of the most important international platforms in the right of return and international humanitarian law in general.

With the circulation of the aforementioned documents, the number of documents published as official documents of the UN at the initiative of the Community has reached ten.

The Western Azerbaijan Community will continue to present the issue of peaceful, safe and dignified return on the agenda of international organizations. The community once again calls on the Armenian government to abandon the policy of racial discrimination initiated by its predecessors, to fulfill its obligations under international law, to create conditions for the return of Western Azerbaijanis, and to initiate a dialogue with the Western Azerbaijani Community to this end.
