As part of COP29, Azerbaijan's Foreign Minister Jeyhun Bayramov met with UN Assistant Secretary-General for Rule of Law and Security Alexander Zuev, Report informs referring to the Foreign Ministry.
The meeting participants discussed issues arising from the current agenda of cooperation between Azerbaijan and the UN, as well as Azerbaijan's chairmanship of COP29. The importance of cooperation between Azerbaijan and the UN for the successful organization of COP29 was noted. Minister Jeyhun Bayramov emphasized that along with the organizational aspects of COP29, one of the main priorities is its substantive and beneficial essence.
The minister provided detailed information about the session's progress and achievements in the negotiation process.
The assistant secretary-general noted the high level of COP29 organization, congratulated Azerbaijan on this achievement, and wished success in its chairmanship. Alexander Zuev, speaking about his participation in high-level events held within COP29, emphasized the usefulness of thematic meetings for exchanging views.
It was noted that Azerbaijan's efforts in combating mine threats deserve approval, particularly the declaration of humanitarian demining as the 18th national Sustainable Development Goal, which serves as an example for fighting this international threat. Additionally, along with humanitarian demining activities, the importance of implementing joint projects for the rehabilitation of mine victims was emphasized.
During the meeting, views were also exchanged on other matters of mutual interest.
