UK supports Azerbaijan-Armenia normalization, minister of state says

Azerbaijan's Foreign Minister Jeyhun Bayramov met with Tariq Ahmad, UK Minister of State for the Middle East, North Africa, South Asia and United Nations at the Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office, as part of the 4th Council of Europe Summit of Heads of State and Government.

Report informs citing the Foreign Ministry that the sides discussed issues on the agenda of bilateral and multilateral cooperation between the two countries and regional issues.

Bayramov said the countries maintain effective cooperation on a number of spheres and stressed the need to use existing opportunities to develop ties.

The minister said that Great Britain is the biggest investor in Azerbaijan's economy and stressed Azerbaijan's interest in continuing cooperation.

Bayramov informed his interlocutor about the post-conflict situation in the region, the work on the reconstruction and restoration, the efforts to tackle the landmine problem, the process of normalizing relations between Azerbaijan and Armenia. He praised UK's support in solving the issue of landmines.

Minister of State Tariq Mahmood Ahmad said the UK supports efforts to build peace and stability in the region and the normalization of the Azerbaijan-Armenia relations.

The sides also discussed other issues of mutual interest.
