“In these difficult days, support is coming to Turkiye from all over the world. Türkiye is being reciprocated for its humanitarian position. But the assistance and support from our brotherly country Azerbaijan makes us extremely happy and boosts our perseverance,” Kamil Aydın, deputy chairman of the Turkish Nationalist Movement Party (MHP), member of the Grand National Assembly of Türkiye (TBMM) from Erzurum, told Report.
The MP said that in these sad and difficult days, the unity of the people and the state also made Türkiye determined: “Thankfully, the fact that our compatriots consider these difficult days as their own calamities and extend a helping hand increases the moral strength of our state. There are huge losses. The number of dead is over 30,000, and the number of injured is more than 80,000. Support is also coming from all over the world. This is an indicator that humanity is not dead in the world. In particular, we are delighted and motivated by the support of dear Azerbaijan, a friend of a difficult day. It reduces the difficulty we experience on the first day.”
The MP added that he came across strange life stories in the regions affected by the earthquake: “There are so many emotional stories to be written in the future. One of my students from Azerbaijan cooked 1,000 gogals (traditional Azerbaijani pastry) in Istanbul, went by plane to the earthquake regions, distributed them among the victims, and then returned and made them again. Even our children studying in America are trying to help Türkiye by attracting the people around them. We are the Turkish nation that cherishes each other. I am sure that we will overcome all these difficulties with the spirit of unity and equality.”
