Turkish MP: Azerbaijan's potential BRICS membership holds great significance

MP Dogan Bekin emphasized the immense importance of Azerbaijan's potential membership in BRICS from security, economic, and other perspectives.

"In a globalizing world, it is a more appropriate step to take part in such organizations based on economic foundations," Bekin said in an interview with Report. The MP also touched upon Türkiye's potential membership in BRICS: "Türkiye is a NATO country and has an agreement with the European Union. All these factors will play a crucial role in determining Türkiye's next step. Currently, Türkiye holds an observer status in BRICS," he added.

Regarding the strengthening of the Turkic world unity, Bekin believes that the unshakable alliance between Azerbaijan and Türkiye will serve as an example to other Turkic states and the world, highlighting the need for expanding this exemplary partnership. "In this context, the development of historical ties between the Caucasus countries, especially Azerbaijan and Türkiye, is of great significance," the MP emphasized.

The Turkish politician further noted that the alliance between Türkiye and Azerbaijan is a means for the emergence of a new, more influential power in the future: "In this sense, it is essential to develop relations in all areas more rapidly."
