Strasbourg. 11 October. REPORT.AZ/ "The Council of Europe is experiencing crisis now," head of the Azerbaijani delegation in PACE, MP Samad Seyidov said speaking during the discussions on the future of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe (PACE).
According to Report's Western European Bureau, he said the Council of Europe should deeply analyze the current state of the organization: "The current problem of PACE is not only the financial issue. We need to reconsider our values. After a deep analysis of the current complex situation the Council of Europe is experiencing now, we can set new goals for future. To this end, we need to create a group or a commission to prepare definite proposals for overcoming the crisis. 8 of 47 Council of Europe member-states are at war with other member-states. We need to bring new ideas to the Council of Europe that will comply with and be accepted by all PACE member-states. We must get used to listen to and respect each other."
Notably, the autumn session of PACE kicked off in Strasbourg on October 8. At the discussions held on October 9 Seyidov also urged to revice the values of the Council of Europe.
