Speaker of the Milli Majlis Sahiba Gafarova met a visiting Montenegrin delegation on an official visit in Azerbaijan headed by Parliament Speaker Aleksa Becich, Report informs citing the press service of the Milli Majlis.
The speaker noted the successful development of relations between Azerbaijan and Montenegro and currently developing cooperation in the political, economic, cultural, and humanitarian spheres.
"As the Azerbaijani president noted, we do not want to talk about war, but about peace in our region of the Caucasus and hope that a peace treaty will be signed soon," Gafarova said.
Aleksa Becich expressed gratitude to Azerbaijan for the assistance provided to his country in the fight against the COVID-19 pandemic. It was emphasized that the further deepening of ties between legislative bodies has a positive impact on the development of other areas.
During the conversation, an exchange of views took place on the prospects for the development of inter-parliamentary relations, the importance of continuing mutual cooperation between deputies, and support within the framework of international organizations.
The meeting was attended by the head of the working group on inter-parliamentary relations with Montenegro, Iqbal Mammadov; head of the Milli Majlis Staff Safa Mirzayev; Montenegrin Ambassador to Azerbaijan Perisha Kastratovich, and other officials.
