Russian MP: Peacekeepers aren’t needed in Karabakh now

Currently, peacekeepers are not needed in Karabakh, Aleksey Zhuravlev, First Deputy Chairman of the State Duma Committee on Defense, said in his statement to RIA-Novosti, while expressing his opinion on the premature withdrawal of the Russian peacekeeping contingent from Azerbaijan, Report informs.

According to him, the mission of the Russian peacekeepers in Karabakh has ended: “It was possible to protect the civilians and help them. Currently, peacekeepers are not needed because there are no opposing sides in Karabakh. Nobody doubts that Karabakh belongs to Azerbaijan.”
