The Russian side is taking consistent steps to resolve the situation in Karabakh, Russian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Maria Zakharova said, Report's Russian bureau informs.
She noted that, in line with the initiative put forward by Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov during a trilateral meeting with the heads of the foreign ministries of Azerbaijan and Armenia on July 25 in Moscow, a scheme for the parallel opening of the Lachin and Aghdam routes was being worked out in cooperation with all interested parties.
According to her, as a first step, on September 12, a batch of food was delivered to the region along the Aghdam route through the all-Russian public organization Russian Red Cross.
"About 15 tons of food, personal hygiene items and bedding were provided to the residents of Karabakh," Zakharova said.
She expressed hope that in the near future, in parallel with the Aghdam route, the Lachin route will also be used, and food cargo will arrive in the region "unhindered in both directions on a regular basis."
