"We want to open borders. So far, several talks have been held within the trilateral working group headed by the Deputy Prime Ministers of Azerbaijan, Armenia, and Russia," Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev told the Spanish newspaper El Pais in Brussels on December 14, Report informs.
"The primary purpose and task of this working group are to open communications. Several stages of talks were relatively successful. There is a complete agreement on opening the railway connection between Azerbaijan and Armenia, and we have begun to build a demolished railway line in the liberated areas along the Armenian border. At the same time, Armenia protested against the highway's launching in previous months, but now we have managed to convince them that it is inevitable, and they agree. So, there is an agreement. We are currently discussing the legal regime of these corridors, the Zangazur corridor passing via Azerbaijan to Armenia and then to the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic of the Republic of Azerbaijan. However, I think that both countries agree that this must happen. By the way, during a tripartite meeting in Sochi last month at the initiative of President Putin, we adopted a declaration that openly spoke about the opening of communications. So it will happen. By the way, the airspace has already been activated. Now the airplanes of Azerbaijan Airlines flying from Baku to Nakhchivan have started to pass through the Armenian airspace," the head of state said.
