Political pundit: Germany won't do what France says

"Germany will not do what France says," a political pundit, Gabil Huseynli, told Report while commenting on the discussions between the President of Azerbaijan, Ilham Aliyev, and the President of Germany, Frank-Walter Steinmeier, held on January 13.

According to him, Germany accepts Azerbaijan's territorial integrity: "I think the heads of state discussed a number of issues, as well as the situation on the Lachin Road. In my opinion, the German President phoned the Azerbaijani President to get information from a reliable source about the current situation, and Ilham Aliyev, like a skilled diplomat, informed him. Germany understands that the Armenians use the Lachin Road for militaristic purposes. It should be noted that there is strong competition between Berlin and Paris. Therefore, Germany will not do what France says."

The political scientist noted that the sides also discussed exporting energy resources to the European market.

On January 13, German President Frank-Walter Steinmeier and his Azerbaijani counterpart, Ilham Aliyev, had a phone conversation. The leaders discussed the perspective of the EU-Azerbaijan-Armenia tripartite format.
