The Khojaly genocide is a mass murder committed out of hatred, Malik Ayub Sumbal, an international journalist and political analyst based in China, author of the book "Tovuz to Karabakh: A Comprehensive Analysis of War in South-Caucasus," told Report.
Ayub Sumbal said that in his book, he extensively analyzes the conflict between Armenia and Azerbaijan that has lasted for more than 30 years, Armenia's occupation policy on Azerbaijani lands, and the crimes it has committed:
"This is the first book published after the last war in Karabakh. Azerbaijan liberated 20% of its lands that had been under occupation for 30 years after the war. The book provides an in-depth analysis of the situation in that region and shows how the conflict became the focus of international attention. It is gratifying that Azerbaijan managed to return its territories:
Malik Ayub Sumbal said that the book has a separate chapter dedicated to Khojaly:
"My book highlights the details of this horrific massacre and the importance of its recognition as genocide. The killing of innocent people cannot go unpunished, justice must be demanded, and the perpetrators must be punished in accordance with international law."
The political analyst emphasized that the Khojaly tragedy is one of the most horrific genocides recorded by the international media in modern history:
"The killing of more than 600 people, including women and children, in one night is one of the most horrific examples of ethnic cleansing. Many countries have condemned the Khojaly genocide and demanded justice. The Azerbaijani people do not forget this tragedy and every year commemorate the innocent victims of the tragedy. On the anniversary of the Khojaly tragedy, I see how deeply people are shaken and long for their lost loved ones. There are still many people who are missing. I remember the victims of this tragedy with deep sadness and respect, and bow before their souls."
