Pashinyan: Delimitation of borders with Azerbaijan will be based on fundamental documents of CIS

“Delimitation of the borders with Azerbaijan will be based on the fundamental documents of the CIS,” Prime Minister of Armenia, Nikol Pashinyan, said in his speech at the CIS Heads of State Council in Astana, Kazakhstan, Report informs, citing Sputnik Armenia.

He said that according to those documents, the former administrative borders of the Soviet republics have already become state borders between independent states:

“As you know, we are working on the normalization of our relations with Azerbaijan. In this context, we consider it necessary to mention the importance of the role of the CIS. The work of delimitation and border commissions in the process of normalization continues. The agreement on the establishment of the commission was reached during the tripartite meeting of the President of Russia, the President of Azerbaijan, and the Prime Minister of Armenia in Sochi on November 26, 2021,” Nikol Pashinyan said.

The head of the government said that after the meeting held on October 6, 2022, in Prague, the capital of the Czech Republic, with the President of Azerbaijan and the mediation of the President of France and the President of the Council of the European Union, an agreement was reached to be based on fundamental documents during the delimitation process.
