Representative of French FM: No country in the world is guaranteed from terrorism and radicalism

"There is no country in the world that is guaranteed from terrorism and radicalism. We have witnessed terrible tragedies in New Zealand and Sri Lanka", -Jean-Christophe Posel Peaucelle, Adviser for Religious issues at the French Ministry of Foreign Affairs said.

Report informs that he spoke at the second Azerbaijan-European conference of interreligious dialogue and the fight against radicalism.

"There must be a difference between the notions 'religion' and 'radicalism' under the description of religion. The role of the state in establishing interreligious dialogue is important. Dialogue will determine the views, desires and differences of the opposing sides. There is no country in the world that is guaranteed from terror and radicalism. We have witnessed terrible tragedies in New Zealand and Sri Lanka," he said.

Peaucelle, stressed that in this context, the state cannot and should not control religion, "since this interference may violate the fundamental principles and freedoms inherent in religion."
