Nigar Arpadarai: Azerbaijan seeks to bring innovation through Global South NGO Platform

Azerbaijan tries to bring innovation on a topic that humanity has not attempted before through the Global South NGO Platform, Nigar Arpadarai, UN High-Level Champion for Climate Change for COP29, said at the founding conference of the Global South NGO Platform held in Baku, Report informs.

According to Arpadarai, this platform is a global initiative: "The Global South NGO Platform is a new challenge. It is now becoming easier to make our voices heard worldwide. However, local organizations do not want to wait for change. They create forest ecosystems and support local communities. They do this with local resources. This is sometimes not enough. That's why the support of NGOs is important."

She highlighted that the first task is for everyone on the platform to be willing to fight for the same cause: "If we want to succeed in this matter, it should be this way. Azerbaijan, which is at the junction of the Global South and Global North, has brought us together today for this reason."
