Azerbaijani Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Elnur Mammadov visited the People’s Republic of China, Report informs, citing Azerbaijan's MFA.
The next round of political consultations between the foreign ministries of Azerbaijan and China was held in Beijing on March 28. The delegations were led by Deputy Minister Elnur Mammadov from Azerbaijan and Assistant Minister of Foreign Affairs Liu Bin from China.
During the consultations, a detailed exchange of views took place on cooperation in various sectors, including politics, economics, trade, energy, green transition, digital development, transport and logistics, education, culture, tourism, etc. The importance of high-level reciprocal visits was highlighted, along with their positive impact on bilateral relations across many fields.
The meeting also emphasized the historical significance of the Joint Declaration on the establishment of a strategic partnership between the Republic of Azerbaijan and the People’s Republic of China, adopted during the meeting between Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev and his Chinese counterpart Xi Jinping, on July 3, 2024. As noted, this important political document is seen as a cornerstone in strengthening strategic cooperation between the two nations.
Deputy Minister Elnur Mammadov provided an insight into Azerbaijan’s peace agenda, the normalization process with Armenia, existing obstacles, and the restoration and reconstruction efforts in the liberated territories, as well as investment projects.
The meeting also touched on cooperation within the UN, the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO), and other international platforms, as well as regional issues and topics of mutual interest.
Moreover, Deputy FM Mammadov met with Chen Zhou, Vice Minister of the International Department of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China, on March 27, 2025. During the meeting, the current state and prospects of bilateral relations were discussed. It was especially noted that the mutual trust and friendship between the heads of state form the foundation for the comprehensive development of relations between Azerbaijan and China.
During his visit, Deputy Minister Mammadov also met with Nurlan Yermekbayev, the Secretary-General of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO), to discuss the prospects of cooperation between Azerbaijan and the SCO.
Elnur Mammadov also held discussions at the Center for China and Globalization with its leadership and representatives of various think tanks. He provided detailed information about Azerbaijan, the current situation in the region, and Azerbaijan-China relations, answering questions from the participants.
