Kazakhstan appoints new ambassador to Azerbaijan By the decree of the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, Serzhan Abdikarimov was appointed Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Kazakhstan to the Republic of Azerbaijan, Report informs citing the Embassy of Kazakhstan in Azerbaijan.

Kazakhstan appoints new ambassador to Azerbaijan

By the decree of the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, Serzhan Abdikarimov was appointed Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Kazakhstan to the Republic of Azerbaijan, Report informs citing the Embassy of Kazakhstan in Azerbaijan.

Abdikarimov was born on May 11, 1976 in Karaganda. He graduated from Almaty State University named after Abai (1998) specializing in international relations and the Diplomatic Academy of the Russian Foreign Ministry (2002) with a degree in Economics.

He began his diplomatic career in 1998 as a Consular for the Office of Europe and America of the Third Department of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Kazakhstan. Then he served as attaché of the Department of International Economic Cooperation. In 1999, he was sent to work at the Embassy of Kazakhstan in the Republic of Korea as an attaché.

Since 2015, before being appointed Ambassador of Kazakhstan to Azerbaijan, he was the Ambassador of Kazakhstan to the Czech Republic, as well as to Slovakia concurrently. He has the diplomatic rank of Second Class Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Envoy. He speaks English, French, Korean and Indonesian.
