Moldovan FM thanks Azerbaijan for support during pandemic

Moldova is grateful to Azerbaijan for its support during the coronavirus pandemic, Minister of Foreign Affairs and European Integration of Moldova Nicolae Popescu said at a press conference following a meeting with Azerbaijani Foreign Minister Jeyhun Bayramov, Report informs.

Popescu said that the countries are actively cooperating both in a bilateral format and within the Eastern Partnership, GUAM and other international organizations.

“We have very ambitious plans for cooperation this year. This year marks the 30th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between our countries. Over these years, the countries have always supported each other’s territorial integrity,” Popescu stressed.

He noted that Moldova is considering the possibility of sending experts to Azerbaijan to assist in the process of demining the liberated territories.

The Moldovan foreign minister added that political cooperation between the two countries is at a very high level. It is also planned to expand cooperation in the economic sphere, in particular energy.

In this regard, despite the pandemic, the possibility of organizing a joint business forum is being considered.
