"Iran acts based on policy and doctrine designed to develop relations with its neighbors, so that these relations improve day by day as desired," Iranian Vice President and Head of the Program and Budget Organization Mohammad Baqir Nobakht said in an interview to journalists during his visit to Ardabil.
"Azerbaijan is one of the neighboring countries with the most desirable relations with Iran. We make efforts to strengthen these relations so that the two friendly and neighboring countries can move towards common goals. We have always stood by each other to develop political, economic and cultural ties and are now taking joint steps to boost these relations," he said.
He noted that joint border projects such as the establishment of an industrial town, the connection of the railway line, and the construction of a cargo terminal in Ardabil province, as a neighboring province with the Republic of Azerbaijan, continue:
"The construction of these joint projects is part of the government's commitment to strengthen relations with neighboring countries. We hope that in the coming years, these relations will lead to further prosperity of both countries. Despite some misunderstandings, strengthening relations should be friendly."
