Baku. 30 March. REPORT.AZ/ Azerbaijan is committed to the spirit and principles of the Non-Aligned Movement (NAM). 

Spokesperson of the Azerbaiijani Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA), Hikmat Hajiyev told Report.

He reminded that the Mid-Term Ministerial Conference of the Ministers of Foreign Affairs will be held in Baku on April 5-6 within the framework of the Non-Aligned Movement on "Promoting International Peace and Security for Sustainable Development": "The meeting of senior officials on preparation for the Ministerial Conference will be held on April 3-4."

Members of the Non-Aligned Movement, as well as representatives of state and international organizations that have been granted observer status as well as invited countries and organizations, will attend the conference: "120 countries participate in the Non-Aligned Movement, 17 states and 10 international organizations have an observer status to NAM."

More than 800 participants will attend the meeting of the Non-Aligned Movement in Baku. "More than 150 people, including local and foreign media representatives, have been accredited to cover the event.

In 2019, the Republic of Azerbaijan will host the XVIII Summit of the Non-Aligned Movement. In 2019-2022, the Republic of Azerbaijan will chair the Non-Aligned Movement.

Notably, the NAM plays an important role in maintenance of the international peace and security.

In 2011, the Republic of Azerbaijan joined the movement at the XVI Ministerial Conference held in Bali.
