The demands of Western Azerbaijanis are not about territory, but about human rights, Mevlut Cavusoglu, the head of the Turkish delegation to the NATO Parliamentary Assembly, former foreign minister, and MP, said at the 2nd International Conference in Baku dedicated to "Right to Return: Promoting Justice for Azerbaijanis Forcibly Expelled from Armenia," Report informs.
Cavusoglu emphasized that he closely follows the activities of the Western Azerbaijan Community:
"The community's activities are fully compliant with international law. This is not a territorial issue, but a human rights issue. While Armenia's territorial integrity is fully respected, the Armenian government still does not respond to these sincere appeals. Armenia's occupation of Karabakh has caused great pain. More than one million Azerbaijanis were displaced from their homes, and their return must be ensured."
Cavusoglu noted that it is regrettable that Armenia does not allow UNESCO's mission:
"We have always believed that justice would prevail, so Azerbaijan has fully secured its sovereignty. Large-scale demining operations and restoration-construction activities are being carried out in the areas contaminated with landmines planted by Armenia."
