Leonid Anfimov to lead CIS observer mission in Azerbaijan's early parliamentary elections

Leonid Anfimov, the First Deputy Secretary General of the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS), has been appointed to head the observer mission from the CIS for the extraordinary elections to the Milli Majlis (National Assembly) of Azerbaijan, scheduled for September 1.

The decision was made by the Council of Permanent Plenipotentiary Representatives of the CIS member states during their meeting on Tuesday, according to Report, which cites the press service of the CIS Executive Committee.

The Executive Committee emphasized that the work of the CIS Observer Mission will be guided by the principles of openness, neutrality, and non-interference in the electoral process and internal affairs of the state.
