Islamophobia is becoming a serious problem in Europe, negatively affecting the lives of millions of Muslim citizens in European countries, the President of the European Development and Research Academy (EDARA) Laytouss Brahim (Belgium) said at the “Embracing Diversity: Tackling Islamophobia in 2024” international conference in Baku, Report informs.
Laytouss Brahim noted that combating this phenomenon requires a multifaceted approach.
“The struggle requires the active participation of Muslims, as well as a correct approach to the link between rights and responsibilities,” he noted, adding that European Muslims must correctly exercise their rights to protect themselves from aggression caused by Islamophobia.
According to him, Islamophobia affects Muslims in Europe in various forms.
“If we do not pay attention to anti-Muslim populist rhetoric and find its origins, we will not be able to analyze the current situation and put an end to Islamophobia forever,” he noted.
