The meeting discussed cooperation between Azerbaijan and the ICRC, the situation around the Lachin road, as well as the activities of the ICRC in Khankandi city of Azerbaijan.
At the meeting, Minister Jeyhun Bayramov noted the importance of the ICRC's activities in Azerbaijan. Later, satisfaction was expressed with the efforts towards the free movement of cars, supplies, and citizens through the Lachin road. The minister stressed the importance of eliminating the situation that triggered the protests.
The minister also stated that taking into account the passage of more than 3,000 vehicles through the Lachin road in recent months and other facts, there is no basis for the claims of the Armenian side that the Lachin road was allegedly closed by Azerbaijan, a "blockade" was applied against Armenian residents, and a "tense humanitarian situation" was created. At the same time, it was noted that in December 2022, the Azerbaijani side expressed its readiness to provide assistance to the local Armenian residents directly or through the ICRC in case of need.
At the same time, other issues of mutual interest were exchanged during the meeting.
