Jean-René Fournier: We are interested in deepening relations with Azerbaijan

"I am very much impressed with the infrastructure created in Azerbaijan. Numerous projects and reforms in different spheres are being implemented in the country," President of the Council of States of the Swiss Confederation Jean-René Fournier told Report.

He noted that Azerbaijan and Switzerland have much in common.

"We are two small countries, surrounded by superpowers. Despite this, we are able to protect our independence through the economic power of Azerbaijan. Azerbaijan is a friendly country for us. We are building our relations for many years and take all efforts for their prosperity," he said.

Fournier also noted that Switzerland is interested in deepening relations with Azerbaijan in all directions, including on the level of interparliamentary cooperation: "We have the interparliamentary group of friendship. We plan to further deepen cooperation as part of this interaction. To this end, I have invited chairman of the Azerbaijani parliament Oqtay Asadov to visit Switzerland next year."
