Azerbaijani Foreign Ministry summons Iranian ambassador

Iranian ambassador to Azerbaijan Seyyed Abbas Mousavi was summoned to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs on November 11, Report informs, citing MFA.

During the meeting, the ambassador was conveyed the dissatisfaction and concern regarding the recent propaganda against the Republic of Azerbaijan in the Iranian media, the smeary campaign, the threatening rhetoric of Iran's high-ranking political and military officials, which are not in line with the spirit of the relations between the two countries.

The diplomat was informed about the inadmissibility of creating conditions for the settlement in Iran of Azerbaijani citizens, who have committed a crime against the foundations of the constitutional structure of Azerbaijan and were internationally searched by the decision of the court to arrest them. The Foreign Ministry of Azerbaijan also stressed the need to hand over the criminals.

The Foreign Ministry also noted that sheltering those who incite separatism in the Republic of Azerbaijan and hide in other countries, avoiding criminal prosecution in Iranian embassies is an unfriendly step. It stressed the unacceptability of disseminating such information and conducting activities against Azerbaijan in Iran, calling on the Iranian side to put an end to such as actions as soon as possible.
