IPC Sec.-Gen.: APA under Azerbaijan’s chairmanship to achieve its goals

The Asian Parliamentary Assembly will achieve its goals under the chairmanship of Azerbaijan, Secretary-General of the International Parliamentarians Congress (IPC) Sitara Ayaz told Report.

“Taking into account that Azerbaijan chaired the Non-Aligned Movement, I am more than confident that the Asian Parliamentary Assembly (APA) under its chairmanship will achieve its goals. We are confident that Speaker of the Azerbaijani Parliament Sahiba Gafarova will do a good job,” she said.

Ayaz emphasized that the main challenge for Asia is climate change, noting the importance of focusing on this problem during Azerbaijan’s chairmanship: “This is a problem for the entire region, regardless of borders. And we want steps to be taken towards resolving this problem.”

She also expressed confidence that, under the chairmanship of Sahiba Gafarova, meetings will be organized with parliamentarians from countries where conflicts exist to discuss issues related to their resolution.

“We all need a peaceful society for our future generations,” she added.
