Members of the international travelers club NomadMania have arrived in Jabrayil district as part of their 13th visit to the liberated territories of Azerbaijan, according to Report.
The travelers first visited the mine clearance area in the Mehdili village of the district.
Gadir Namazaliyev, Area Operations Manager of the Azerbaijan National Agency for Mine Action (ANAMA), informed the travelers about the site.
He stated that after the liberation of Azerbaijani territories from occupation, the first priority was to start clearing the areas of mines and unexploded ordnance to allow the internally displaced people to return to their native lands.
The official also highlighted that during the occupation period, the Armenian armed forces committed acts of vandalism in all settlements, including the Jabrayil district center, as in other residential areas. He added that Armenians contaminated the destroyed areas with mines and unexploded military ammunition in a scattered manner, without following any rules.
According to him, during the demining activities in the Mehdili village area of Jabrayil district, a total of 875 mines were detected and neutralized over 92 working days. Of these, 155 were anti-tank mines, 720 were anti-personnel mines, and 1 was an improvised explosive device.
Namazaliyev further mentioned that the anti-personnel mines found in the area were determined to be of Armenian production.
Afterwards, members of the NomadMania travelers club familiarized themselves with the operational conditions of demining work in the area.
