ICRC reports 85 mine incidents in Azerbaijan over past three years

The Barda office of the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) estimates that there were 85 mine incidents between 2020 and 2023, resulting in 49 deaths and 79 injuries, Konul Hajiyeva, a humanitarian defense officer at the ICRC representative office in Azerbaijan, said at a round table on the topic "Protection of persons with disabilities and mine victims in Azerbaijan."
According to her, 26 drivers were injured as a result of mine incidents; in addition, mines are mainly used to blow up people involved in livestock farming.
