Kojic noted that the Geneva Conventions played a major role in protecting the rights of people affected by armed conflicts:
"The fact that each state freely adopts the terms of the Geneva Conventions demonstrates the importance of international humanitarian law. The ICRC has repeatedly emphasized that the main challenge faced is the lack of full compliance with international humanitarian law. International humanitarian law is at a crossroads and the challenges it faces are increasing."
Kojic emphasized that the ICRC needs investment in international humanitarian law:
"Clarification of humanitarian law plays a major role in better compliance with the rules. Therefore, humanitarian law needs to be raised to the highest level of the agenda.
