Herizal Hazri: Discrimination is tool in struggle for power

Discrimination is not a manifestation of disrespect for religion, but a kind of tool in the struggle for power, Herizal Hazri, Senior Advisor to the Higher Committee of Human Fraternity in Abu Dhabi, UAE, said at the international conference themed "Islamophobia in Focus: Unveiling Bias, Shattering Stigmas" in Baku, according to Report.

"Today I would like to draw attention to the topic of discrimination against Muslims, Christians, and representatives of other religions, ethnic groups, and peoples. In essence, this is a chronic struggle for power," he emphasized.

According to Hazri, religion plays an important and influential role in the life of society, and that is why it is often used by political forces for mobilization, inciting hatred, or conversely, gaining support.

"To overcome this problem, we must look at it not through the prism of religion, but through the prism of power that aspires to oppression. This is not just a moral issue, but a systemic problem that must be solved in a systemic way," the Senior Advisor added.
