There are states that do not fulfill the requirements of the Geneva Conventions, Aydin Safikhanli, Head of the Office of the Commissioner for Human Rights (Ombudsman) of Azerbaijan, said at a seminar dedicated to the 75th anniversary of the Geneva Conventions held in Baku, Report informs.
Safikhanli noted that Azerbaijan is a party to these conventions and is one of the states that fulfills its requirements at the highest level:
"This year marks the 75th anniversary since the adoption of the Geneva Conventions. Azerbaijan is a party to this convention and is one of the states that fulfills its requirements at the highest level. However, not all states fulfill their obligations under this convention."
Safikhanli added that providing mine maps is one of the main points of international law.
"Although Azerbaijan was subjected to occupation for many years, it fully complied with the requirements of international law during the first and second Karabakh wars. The conditions of international law were also followed regarding detained and captured persons," he emphasized.
