Haber Global: Pashinyan is angry for not getting Russian support during Karabakh war

Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan is angry for not receiving support from Russia during the Second Karabakh War, Turkish journalist Emre Ozturk said in an article about the recent diplomatic defeats of Armenian leadership published on Haber Global platform, Report informs.

The author touched upon Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan's support for the Assad regime in Syria and the defeat following the recent events.

"EU Reporter, known for its closeness to the European Union, wrote that Armenia supported Bashar Assad in Syria for many years, but with the fall of the regime, it became a country that lost to Türkiye in the diplomatic framework. The analysis also noted that Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan's support for Assad contradicts his pro-European and pro-Western rhetoric," he wrote.

According to Emre Ozturk, Armenia is experiencing tough days as it faces fragmentation in the face of Azerbaijan and Türkiye’s unity.

The analysis article stated that Nikol Pashinyan was angry for not receiving support from Russia during the Second Karabakh War, which ended with decisive diplomatic and military operations in 2020.

The article also mentioned Yerevan's decision to cut all ties with Moscow at the National Security Council meeting held in December 2023.

"The Armenian leadership has turned to European Union countries for trade, and to countries like Greece, India, and France for military cooperation. During this period, Armenia has not participated in the sessions of the Collective Security Treaty Organization, where Russia has predominance. Tensions have also increased in Moscow regarding Armenia's joint military exercises with the US and political support for Ukraine."

The journalist, citing official US and EU reports, also drew attention to Armenia-Iran relations.

"Armenia is not implementing the embargoes imposed by the West against Tehran. EU officials, who say that Yerevan's statements supporting Tehran have been met with serious reaction in the US, believe that Armenia's dual diplomacy is negatively affecting the peace process in the South Caucasus."

The Turkish journalist, citing sources in Brussels, pointed out that Yerevan needs to take five important steps to achieve full integration with Europe.

"Although Yerevan is expected to officially withdraw from the CSTO, it is also considered that it will leave the Eurasian Economic Union and sign the 2013 European Union Association Agreement. The US and EU also demand that Yerevan stop transporting embargoed strategic goods from the West to Russia through front companies. While Pashinyan is expected to condemn Russia's aggression against Ukraine, he is also demanded to end the strategic partnership with Iran," the article emphasizes.
