Georgian pundit: Many people in Armenia have not drawn lessons from war

"Azerbaijan has taken many steps to bolster peace in the post-conflict period. The proposal on the Zangazur corridor is very good, and its implementation may be the beginning of the rapprochement of positions between Azerbaijan and Armenia. But, unfortunately, there are opponents of this project, and they want to hinder the peace-building process in the region,” Badri Nachkebiya, director of the Georgian Center for the Study of Terrorism and Political Violence, a renowned pundit, has said, as quoted by Report.

The current processes within Armenia are also noteworthy, the pundit said.

“Unfortunately, some forces are aggravating the situation and resorting to provocations. The incident on the Shusha-Lachin road is a classic terrorist act. I think that the international community should pay more attention to these provocations of Armenia and take appropriate steps."

The expert believes that Armenia will continue provocations, as there are enough forces inside and outside the country who do not want peace and stability.

"Armenia must understand that peace is better than war. Unfortunately, many in Armenia have not learned a lesson from the war. Today, Armenia and the Armenian people are the party that needs peace the most. Some forces and separatists are trying to keep the situation tense. I think that the Armenian people will eventually understand that peace is inevitable. Peace and order are not possible where there are separatism and territorial claims against neighbors."
