Georgia discusses regional peace initiative with Azerbaijan

"A new geopolitical environment in the region was also discussed during our visit to Azerbaijan," Georgian Foreign Minister David Zalkaliani said in a comment on the results of Prime Minister Irakli Garibashvili's working visit to Azerbaijan, the local bureau of Report says.

According to him, Garibashili recently addressed the UN General Assembly with a Peaceful Neighborhood Initiative in the South Caucasus.

"We all agree that there is no alternative to lasting peace and stability in the region. Therefore, our initiative is welcomed. First, we talk directly to our neighbors Azerbaijan and Armenia to this end. Of course, this issue will be discussed in Armenia as well."
