Azerbaijani Foreign Minister Jeyhun Bayramov has discussed Baku's chairmanship of COP29 with Secretary General of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) Hissein Brahim Taha on the sidelines of the 79th session of the UN General Assembly, Report informs via the press service of the Foreign Ministry.
The current agenda of cooperation between Azerbaijan and the OIC, as well as partnership opportunities within the 29th session of the Conference of the Parties to the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change (COP29) were discussed at the meeting.
Minister Jeyhun Bayramov emphasized that Azerbaijan always attaches importance to the development of relations with fraternal and friendly countries, and in this context, the country is always ready to further expand cooperation within the OIC.
Azerbaijan's contribution to cooperation within the OIC and strengthening the activities of the Organization as one of its active members was noted with satisfaction.
Informing the opposite side about the preparatory work carried out within Azerbaijan's presidency in COP29, the negotiation process, the priorities of the presidency and the initiatives of the country, Minister Jeyhun Bayramov stated that the COP29 presidency is focused on attracting financial resources to combat climate change.
Considering the importance of combating the threat of climate change for OIC countries, it was noted that Azerbaijan is ready to cooperate within the COP29.
The meeting participants also exchanged views on other issues of mutual interest.
