Fatoumata Djire: Azerbaijan deserves praise for raising issue of neocolonialism at COP29

The representative of the Organization for Tree Development, Protection and Restoration (ASRAD), Fatoumata Djire, highly appreciated the fact that Azerbaijan did not ignore the topic of neocolonialism at COP29, according to Report.

During a meeting within COP29 of the Baku Initiative Group (BIG) with representatives of African states and peoples affected by colonialism, she noted that COP29 is dedicated to climate change issues, and not every state would have been able to raise the problem of neocolonialism at such an important event.

"I congratulate Azerbaijan on the successful organization of COP29. The Baku Initiative Group played an important role. I also welcome Azerbaijan's chairmanship in the Non-Aligned Movement. It is praiseworthy when a state actively supports the sovereignty of others," said Djire.
