The US's reluctance to waive Section 907 doesn’t serve its interests at all, Chairman of the Center of Analysis of International Relations (AIR Center), Farid Shafiyev, told Report.
“Section 907 was in force in 1992–2000 and had no negative impact on Azerbaijan. This is nothing more than rhetoric. Our reaction is already clear. Military aid to Azerbaijan was inconsistent. Azerbaijan already buys weapons with its own funds,” he said.
Shafiyev emphasized that everything that the US gave to Azerbaijan served its interests: “We don’t buy anything from the US anyway. Whatever they gave served their interests here.”
