Paris is becoming less and less loyal to the principles of international law and to EU security framework, US political scientist and expert in international relations Peter Tase told Report.
"The Republic of France has radically changed the main principles of its foreign policy during the presidency Emmanuel Macron. Public discourse of Macron delivered to domestic audiences is seriously harming the national interests of France in Europe and Asia," the expert said.
He added that the very simple fact that there is a large Armenian - French community living in France, is making President Macron to embrace loyalty to Armenians for political reasons at home at the detriment of foreign policy interests of France abroad.
"Paris has constantly supported Yerevan for obvious reasons and has set aside the forward looking principles of foreign policy that benefit French private sector and French citizens’ security in Europe and beyond. The Prague quad Summit, on October 6, 2022, was an important step towards ensuring Armenia’s official position in regards to the sovereign territory of Azerbaijan; however Macron’s recent interview with inflammatory statements against the people of Azerbaijan, is an unacceptable, rude and unexpected setback that comes from the head of state of one out of five permanent member countries of UN Security Council," Tase said.
The expert also believes that President Macron committed a great blunder in defending Armenian regime, therefore he 'has dismantled France’s impartial role as Co-chair of the round table in charge of upholding bilateral dialogue between Azerbaijan and Armenia.'
