Expert: Baku, with its rich energy resources, can become important partner for Islamabad

Bilateral relations between Azerbaijan and Pakistan continue to strengthen, especially in light of the current state visit of Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev to Islamabad, Report informs.

This visit was an important milestone in the history of bilateral relations, emphasizing the desire of both countries to deepen cooperation in various fields, including energy and economy.

The two countries actively support each other in the international arena, cooperating within the framework of organizations such as the UN, OIC and the Non-Aligned Movement. Recently, the energy cooperation between Azerbaijan and Pakistan has been actively discussed on the cooperation agenda.

The Petroleum Division of Pakistan has invited Azerbaijan to participate in projects such as underground gas storage, the White Oil Pipeline, liquefied petroleum gas infrastructure, etc. These projects are designed to strengthen Pakistan's energy security and increase the economic benefits for Azerbaijan.

During President Ilham Aliyev's visit to Pakistan, several key documents were signed that opened new horizons for cooperation between the two countries. Among them are memorandums of understanding in the fields of energy, trade and infrastructure development. These agreements lay the foundation for the implementation of joint projects and strengthen economic ties.

Besides, an important aspect of the visit was the signing of agreements in the field of culture and education aimed at the consolidation of humanitarian and cultural ties between the peoples of the two countries.

“Azerbaijan is located at the gateway of Europe and provides an array of prospects for meaningful engagement for countries all over the world and Pakistan is no different,” Siraj Rehmat, political analyst and president of the Pakistan Youth Organization, said in an interview with Report.

He stressed that Azerbaijan, as an emerging economy in the region, provides diverse prospects for meaningful cooperation for Pakistan.

Rehmat expressed hope that Azerbaijan with its rich energy resources can be a formidable partner for Pakistan which is struggling to fulfill its energy needs and the prices of petroleum and gas are at an all-time high currently.

“Hopefully, both nations will grow their friendly ties to a next level via mutual cooperation and understanding and by exploring new arenas of engagement in the days to come,” the political analyst said.

Thus, the prospects for bilateral relations between Azerbaijan and Pakistan seem very encouraging, and the signed agreements and memorandums create a solid basis for further cooperation. Both countries hope that this partnership will bring significant benefits and contribute to stability and prosperity in the region.
