Expert: Azerbaijan-Georgia relations example of friendship, strategic partnership

The relations between Azerbaijan and Georgia are an example of friendship and strategic partnership, and the development of brotherly and friendly interaction between the two countries deserves approval, political expert Gia Abashidze told Report.

He noted that these ties are based on very strong and unbreakable friendship, with cooperation constantly expanding and deepening in various areas, which has both symbolic and practical significance.

According to the political scientist, the fact that the first foreign visit of Georgia's newly formed government was made to Azerbaijan once again confirms the strength of this friendship and partnership.

"It is no coincidence that Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze made his first foreign visit after parliamentary elections and the approval of the new government specifically to Baku. Before this, Georgia's foreign minister visited the Azerbaijani capital. These consecutive visits show that Azerbaijan and Georgia play an important role in maintaining peace and stability both in the South Caucasus and in the broader region. Today, Baku and Tbilisi are becoming new and highly influential actors in world politics. The main thing is that peace and stability are constantly maintained in our region. In this direction, two sovereign and free states, Azerbaijan and Georgia, will expand cooperation in all spheres, not only economic but also political, cultural, and security. Our goal is to ensure eternal peace and prosperity in the region," stated Abashidze.

He added that the foundation of Azerbaijani-Georgian relations was laid by the national leader of the Azerbaijani people Heydar Aliyev and former Georgian President Eduard Shevardnadze.

"The relations built on the solid foundation laid by these two great statesmen continue to develop successfully today. Further deepening of these relations and expansion of cooperation is welcomed both in Georgia and Azerbaijan. Friendship and partnership between the two countries create a solid foundation for the region's prosperous future and serve the well-being of both peoples. The joint efforts of Azerbaijan and Georgia, steps taken to preserve peace and stability, make an important contribution to the development and prosperity of the region. This model of cooperation can serve as an example for other countries in the region," the expert added.
