Events dedicated to World Habitat Day will be held in Baku

Baku will host a series of events dedicated to World Habitat Day on October 2, Executive Director of the United Nations Human Settlements Program (UN-Habitat) Maimunah Mohd Sharif said at a press conference in New York, Report informs.

The main theme of World Habitat Day will be “Resilient urban economies. Cities as drivers of growth and recovery.”

The role of cities in solving pressing problems of humanity will be discussed at the upcoming meetings.

Some 70 percent of the world’s population lives in cities, so the future of humanity lies in cities, Sharif said, speaking at a joint press conference with Turkish Minister of Environment, Urbanization and Climate Change Mehmet Ozhaseki on the sidelines of the UN SDG Summit.
