The 6th Eastern Partnership Summit in Brussels reaffirmed in a joint declaration adopted by the Eastern Partnership countries and the EU member states that the EU remains committed in its support to the territorial integrity within their internationally recognized borders, independence, and sovereignty of all Eastern partners, Report informs.
According to the declaration, the peaceful resolution of conflicts, building trust, and good neighborly relations are essential to economic and social development and cooperation.
These points fully correspond to the post-conflict agenda of Azerbaijan.
The document stresses the importance of helping the conflict-affected population in the Eastern Partnership region.
The EU and interested partners welcome progress in the ongoing negotiations between the EU and Azerbaijan on a new comprehensive Agreement.
The EU and interested partners welcome the completion of the Southern Gas Corridor project, which has contributed to the diversification of gas sources and routes of supply to the EU.
Thus, the European Union expressed its backing for the global project created with the support of Azerbaijan.
The document acknowledges the continued commitment of the EU and its Member States to support partner countries in addressing the pandemic, the vaccination process, to fight against anti-vaccine disinformation, and to foster longer-term health resilience. Thus, the EU has, in fact, expressed its support for the position of the President of the Non-Aligned Movement, President Ilham Aliyev of Azerbaijan, against "vaccine nationalism".
Azerbaijan did not join the declaration clause on Belarus's internal affairs. Thus, Azerbaijan has once again demonstrated that respect for countries' sovereignty and non-interference in their internal affairs is a red line for it. Azerbaijan does not accept a politicized approach to human rights, humanitarian issues, and double standards. Azerbaijan never leaves its friends in the lurch.
