Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan has sent the bill on extending the mandate of the Turkish Armed Forces in Azerbaijan for another year to the Turkish Grand National Assembly (TBMM), Report informs.
According to the bill, as a result of the local anti-terrorist measures carried out by the Azerbaijani Army in the Karabakh region on September 19–20, the illegal regime in the area was completely abolished, but the final peace agreement between Azerbaijan and Armenia has not yet been signed.
Thus, Türkiye will continue to contribute to maintaining peace and stability in the region.
It was also noted that the work of the Türkiye-Russia Joint Monitoring Center is being successfully continued: "Through this center, Türkiye contributes to the security of the region and the creation of an atmosphere of trust between the parties."
The bill states that the activity of the Turkish Armed Forces in the Joint Monitoring Center is a requirement of Türkiye's constructive role in the region.
Thus, the mandate of the Turkish army will be extended for another year, starting November 17.
The bill is expected to be discussed in Parliament this week.
