Envoy: This year was productive for development of Azerbaijan-Qatar cooperation

This year was productive in terms of fostering co-operation between Azerbaijan and Qatar in a number of fields, Azerbaijan’s Ambassador to Qatar Rashad Ismayilov told the Qatar News Agency (QNA), Report informs.

“We consider bilateral relations between the State of Qatar and the Republic of Azerbaijan as strong and both the friendly countries make continuous efforts to strengthen existing ties in all spheres. As for the latest developments in bilateral co-operation, it should be noted that this year was productive in terms of fostering co-operation between Azerbaijan and Qatar in a number of fields. Thus, recently we held two important events in Baku, on September 7 this year we had the second round of bilateral political consultations and on October 18, Azerbaijan-Qatar Joint Economic, Trade and Technical Commission held its third meeting,” the ambassador said.

“In less than a year Qatar will be hosting one of the most attractive mega sports events, 2022 FIFA World Cup,” he reminded. “Despite all the obstacles emerged by the pandemic, the implementation of infrastructure development projects related to the World Football Championship continues in accordance with the previously planned schedule. Undoubtedly, relevant wide-scale preparation activities already performed and those currently underway in preparation for the World Cup are commendable. Considering all above-mentioned achievements along with good organization of the Arab Cup we can currently observe in Doha, there is no doubt that Qatar will host the 2022 FIFA World Cup at the highest level.”
