Envoy: Paraguay willing to open honorary consulate in Azerbaijan

Paraguay wants to open an honorary consulate in Azerbaijan, non-resident Ambassador of Paraguay to Azerbaijan Ceferino Adrián Valdez Peralta said in an interview with Report.

The ambassador noted that Paraguay intends to strengthen cooperation with Azerbaijan in all areas and, first of all, expand diplomatic relations.

“First, we want to open an honorary consulate in Azerbaijan. In the future, an embassy may also begin work,” the diplomat said.

The ambassador emphasized that during his next visit to Baku, he plans to hold meetings with local businessmen: “We want to take advantage of business opportunities. Paraguay’s sources of income are the exports of beef, soybeans, corn, rice. There are plans to purchase fertilizers, petroleum products, small cattle from Azerbaijan," Ceferino said.

The diplomat also noted that Paraguayan universities are ready to cooperate with Azerbaijani educational institutions.
